Outreach Services is primarily designed to provide library materials to those who may be confined to their home or within a nursing home in Vinton County. These services are available by delivery to the patron's home or nursing home.
Who is eligible to receive delivered materials?
If you are elderly, have a disability, or live a great distance from the main library and wish to receive library materials, the library can attempt to locate items and bring them to you the next time the Outreach Services coordinator is in your neighborhood.
What does the library offer?
The library offers books for children, teens, and adults, as well as DVDs, magazines, large print books, and books on CD.
What do I need in order to check out materials?
In order to check out library materials, patrons must have a library card. Library cards are free to those over the age of five. All patrons applying for a library card (including parents and guardians of minor children) must provide identification verifying current address, such as a driver's license or a recent piece of mail received. A parent or guardian must sign and be responsible for patrons under the age of 18. The fee for replacing a lost card is $1.00. Library cards must be presented by all patrons in order to check out materials. However, the coordinator will maintain the library accounts of those who are approved to receive Outreach Services.
For how long may I keep library materials that are delivered to me?
All delivered materials are due on the next scheduled visit (approximately four weeks) or may be returned to the main library in McArthur before, during, or after business hours. Patrons may use the book deposit box for the return of materials. The schedule for delivery of materials is subject to change due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances. One renewal for a period of one month may be requested for all materials, except for high-demand titles.
May I place a special request?
Yes, the library can attempt to locate any item requested by its patrons.
